Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a Project Engineer to join our Land Development team in Scottsdale, AZ. The role focuses on delivering land development civil design projects, coordinating with internal teams, and ensuring schedule and budget adherence.

The ideal candidate has at least four years of land development experience, a PE in Arizona or eligible for licensure, and strong CAD/Civil3D skills. Bonus eligibility is included.

• Four or more years of experience in land development engineering design.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Arizona (or eligible for licensure in 6-12 months).
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (experience with other disciplines may be substituted at Management's discretion).

Responsibilities

• Execute land development civil engineering projects on schedule and within budget.
• Support land development teams to produce civil plan sets.
• Manage internal support teams (survey, traffic, hydrology, hydraulics) and coordinate schedules and budgets.
• Implement QA/QC program and ensure project compliance.
• Interact with City/County staff for plan approvals.
• Lead up to five technical personnel; assign work, review output, train in civil design and CAD/Civil3D, and recommend promotions.

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Land Development team. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.

Requirements

• Executes land development civil engineering projects efficiently (meets schedules and budgets)
• Supports land development civil teams to produce civil plan sets.
• Effectively manages internal support teams (survey, traffic, hydrology and hydraulics, etc.) – able to communicate/manage technical details as well as schedules and budgets.
• Implements QA/QC program and ensures compliance within project team.
• Works with City/County staff for approval of project plans.
• Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and allocate resources through differing project stages.
• Administers the construction services portions of projects including RFI response, site meetings with contractors, etc.
• Effectively leads up to five (5) assigned technical personnel including:
  • Assigns and oversees project assignments;
  • Reviews work for accuracy and completeness;
  • Trains staff in civil engeering design and CAD/Civil3D;
  • Recommends compensation adjustments and/or promotions.

The compensation for this position is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualification. Additionally, this is bonus-eligible position, offering further potential for financial recognition based on performance and company success.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrates competence in fundamental civil engineering design principles for land development projects.
• Experienced in cost estimating, bid phase assistance construction administration, and general construction methods.
• Demonstrates proficiency with current computer aided design (CAD/Civil 3D) and production software and ability to learn new versions or new technology.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret
• Ability to write effective reports and correspondence
• Construction document and 3D production ability
• Possesses a firm understanding of engineering design for all aspects of site development along with current knowledge of industry trends, technology, codes and regulations
• Embraces teamwork approach and possesses strong communication skills
• Must possess strong technical skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD and other discipline specific software

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of four (4) years of experience in Land Development Engineering design.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Arizona (or eligible for licensure in 6-12 months).
• Graduate from an accredited university or college with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (Experience or degrees in other disciplines may be substituted at Management's discretion).
