Mattern & Craig, an employee-owned engineering and survey firm in Charleston, SC, seeks a motivated Civil Engineer for a full‑time role focused on technical design and potential project management. The candidate will work on water/wastewater and land development projects in a collaborative team environment.

The position includes preliminary studies, stormwater analysis, erosion control planning, cost estimation, and coordination with clients and consultants.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Civil Engineering required.
• EIT certification; ability to obtain PE within 1–3 years.
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, design and permitting.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design water and wastewater infrastructure and participate in preliminary studies.
• Contribute to land development design and stormwater analysis.
• Develop erosion and sediment control plans and project specifications.
• Prepare cost estimates and coordinate with clients, reviewing agencies and consultants.

Job description

Mattern & Craig, an employee-owned Engineering and Survey Firm, is seeking a motivated and responsible individual for a Civil Engineering position in the Charleston, SC office. This is a full-time position with technical design and potential project-management responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be assigned to a variety of projects with responsibilities that include but are not limited to: water/wastewater system infrastructure design, preliminary engineering studies/reports, land development design, stormwater analysis and design, development of erosion and sediment control plans, plan and specification development, preparation of cost estimates, and potential coordination with clients, reviewing agencies, and consultants.

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program

Preferred Qualifications:

• EIT certification; ability to obtain PE within 1-3 years
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, permitting, and project work-related issues
• Excellent engineering design, written, oral, and communication skills
• Knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D, GIS, MicroStation, Microsoft Office software
