Job Overview
A law firm is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Attorney to join its St. Louis, Missouri office. The position is designed for an attorney with 7 to 10+ years of experience and substantial litigation and trial capabilities. The attorney will handle a diverse civil litigation caseload, work alongside experienced litigators, and participate in matters before state and federal courts throughout the Midwest. The role offers significant responsibility for case management, trial preparation, depositions, mediations, court appearances, and legal drafting.
Duties
- Manage a diverse portfolio of civil litigation matters.
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants throughout the litigation process.
- Prepare cases for trial, including organizing evidence, documents, exhibits, and presentations.
- Take and defend depositions as required.
- Represent clients in mediations and other dispute resolution proceedings.
- Participate in conferences involving claimants, opposing parties, and judges.
- Appear in state and federal courts on behalf of clients.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, findings of fact, legal opinions, and other litigation documents.
- Conduct legal research and analyze applicable state and federal laws.
- Develop litigation and trial strategies in collaboration with other attorneys.
- Negotiate effectively on behalf of clients.
- Manage substantial caseloads while meeting multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Work effectively with corporate clients and other business professionals.
Requirements
- 7 to 10+ years of legal experience, with a strong background in civil litigation.
- Demonstrated litigation and trial experience.
- Working knowledge of state and federal laws, court rules, and litigation procedures.
- Experience handling depositions, mediations, court appearances, and trial preparation.
- Ability to manage a substantial caseload and competing deadlines.
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively with corporate professionals and legal teams.
- Active Missouri Bar membership.
- Ability to obtain bar admission in Illinois, Kansas, Iowa, or Nebraska.
Education and Certifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Missouri.
- Ability to obtain admission to practice in Illinois, Kansas, Iowa, or Nebraska.
