Job description

Brief Description

We are looking for a Civil Intern Engineer (EIT) with 2–4 years of experience to join our growing Land Development team. This is a pivotal role for an ambitious engineer who has mastered the basics and is ready to take on more design responsibility. You will work directly with our Senior PEs to lead the technical production of site plans, perform complex engineering calculations, and begin interacting with clients and regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advanced Design & Modeling: Take the lead on the technical production of site construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including the creation of dynamic surfaces, pipe networks, and complex grading plans.
  • Hydrology & Hydraulics ($H&H$): Prepare comprehensive drainage and stormwater management reports. Design detention/retention facilities and water quality features using HydroCAD or similar modeling software.
  • Utility Infrastructure: Design and profile water, sanitary sewer, and storm drain systems, ensuring compliance with local municipal standards and utility provider requirements.
  • Permitting & Agency Coordination: Assist in navigating the entitlement process by preparing response letters to agency "redlines" and attending meetings with city/county reviewers.
  • Project Management Support: Help track project budgets and timelines, coordinate with sub-consultants (surveyors, geotechnical, etc.), and assist in the preparation of project proposals.
  • Construction Administration: Review shop drawings, process submittals, and perform occasional site visits to ensure construction is progressing according to the approved design.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • Certification: Active Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification.
  • Experience: 2–4 years of professional experience specifically in land development or site civil engineering.
  • Technical Skill: High proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required (specifically surfaces, alignments, and pipe networks).
  • Communication: Strong technical writing skills for reports and the ability to communicate effectively with the internal project team.
