Bechtel is seeking a Geotechnical Field Engineer for the Cardinal Project in New Albany, OH. The role involves supervising field construction activities, reviewing drawings, coordinating with the Construction and Engineering teams, and ensuring QA/QC in geotechnical work.
The candidate will have an MS in Geotechnical Engineering (or BS with extensive field experience), PE preferred, and willingness to travel domestically and overseas.
Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. Bechtel will design and build Phase 1 of the Ohio One project, a total of 2.5 million square feet, including 600,000 square feet of cleanrooms. Construction will require as much steel as eight Eiffel Towers and as much concrete as the tallest skyscrapers. Bechtel will strengthen future economic development in the region by partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline.
The Geotechnical Field Engineer will supervise and support geotechnical engineering activities for construction of the Intel Cardinal Phase 1 Fab and Support Buildings, a semiconductor manufacturing facility, known as the Cardinal Project, in New Albany, Ohio. Work will be on the project site in New Albany, Ohio. The successful candidate will receive technical directions from the Construction and Engineering team in the Bechtel Cardinal office in New Albany, OH. The position is based in New Albany, OH. The position will be part of the Bechtel Construction Group for the Cardinal Project; however, the candidate will also coordinate with the other Engineering disciplines within Bechtel. The successful candidate will report to and receive functional oversight from Bechtel Construction. Position requires observing and supervising field construction activities related to all aspect of geotechnical construction, including review of drawings and specifications, planning, field verification of materials and activities, oversight of earthworks, excavation, dewatering, compaction, sampling, testing, shallow soil stabilization of soft clay soils using lime or cement, ground improvement using various methods, deep foundation installation and testing, subsurface investigation programs, geotechnical monitoring using instrumentation, and other related activities for development of project site.
