Job summary

Fishbeck in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Civil Field Intern for Summer 2027. You will work with our Civil Field team, assisting with daily reports and field observations to verify project compliance with design and contract requirements.

Applicants should be enrolled in a Civil or Environmental Engineering program, possess strong communication skills, and be eager to learn through hands-on site experience across regional Michigan projects.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Civil or Environmental Engineering program.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Prior experience in construction, field inspection, or testing is a plus.
• Comfortable working outdoors and traveling to project sites.
• Eager to learn and contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare daily reports documenting jobsite conditions and completed work.
• Assist in verifying that construction meets design and contract requirements.
• Support engineers and inspectors with RFIs.
• Participate in site visits and observe project execution firsthand.
• Learn how to communicate findings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
