Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Chicago-area team, focusing on civil and heavy civil construction estimates for earthwork, highways, and infrastructure projects.

Ideal candidates will have strong cost estimation skills, plan review abilities, and experience coordinating with operations and project management to develop competitive bids. DOT experience is an added benefit; this role offers integration with a growing heavy civil portfolio.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating civil/heavy civil projects.
• Strong understanding of earthwork, roadway, highway or infrastructure projects.
• IDOT or DOT estimating experience is advantageous (not required).

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and competitive bids.
• Review plans, specifications, and project requirements.
• Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Work closely with Operations and Project Management teams to develop bids.
• Identify project risks, cost efficiencies, and value engineering opportunities.

Metric Geo is confidentially partnered with an established heavy civil contractor looking to add an experienced Estimator to its team in the Chicago market.

The focus is on candidates with a strong background in civil construction estimating, covering earthwork, highway, roadway, and infrastructure projects. IDOT or DOT experience is beneficial but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and competitive bids.
