Job summary

Watson Civil Construction, Inc. in Florida is seeking a Takeoff Technician to join our estimating team in Tampa or Jacksonville/St. Augustine.

This role supports senior estimators by performing quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, and roadway items, and organizing bid documents. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in construction or civil engineering, familiarity with civil plans, and experience with takeoff software such as Agtek or Bluebeam.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in construction, civil engineering, or related field preferred (internship or field experience accepted).
• Familiarity with reading civil construction plans and performing basic measurements.
• Experience with takeoff or design software (Agtek, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, HCSS, or similar) is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, and roadway items using company software.
• Assist in organizing bid documents and maintaining project files.
• Input and update data into estimating and takeoff software (HCSS, Agtek, Bluebeam).
• Coordinate with estimators to verify quantities, material requirements, and subcontractor inputs.
• Support the gathering and organization of supplier and subcontractor quotes.
• Help maintain standardized takeoff templates and historical quantity databases.
• Learn and apply estimating principles under the guidance of senior estimators.
