Job summary

Job description

HDR’s Water Business Group is seeking a Civil Engineering Lead to support Southern California dam, levee, and civil works projects.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multi‑disciplinary analysis within the growing dam, levee, and civil works program. • Coordinate site land development, structural, geotechnical, and hydraulic engineering activities. • Provide project management, business development, and mentoring to a team of civil engineers and designers. • Develop project design, including planning, scheduling, and preparation of final design analysis for dams, spillways, outlet works, stormwater systems, and other critical structures subject to hydraulic and seismic forces.

Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience (preferred).
  • Willingness to obtain California PE registration (additional state registrations encouraged).
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in civil engineering projects involving site land development, water management, structural, geotechnical, and hydraulic disciplines.
  • Experience with Bentley MicroStation, InRoads, Open Roads, AutoCAD Civil3D, or similar civil engineering software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 7 years of related experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience.
  • Professional engineering license recognized in the location of the position offered.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and MS Project (Access experience is a plus).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and active participation in an employee‑owned culture.
  • Familiarity with State Dam Safety, US Bureau of Reclamation, US Army Corps of Engineers, or FERC‑regulated projects and standards is a plus.
  • Construction experience to identify potential claims is a plus.
