Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking an Intern/Co-op to contribute to water infrastructure projects, including dams, treatment facilities, and stormwater systems.

You will support a multi-disciplinary team across water resources, site civil, hydraulics, and construction, working with municipalities, utilities, and government clients. The role emphasizes learning, collaboration, and practical engineering tasks in CAD, GIS, and design software within a professional office environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in project administration: write reports, gather information, draft proposals and correspondence, track costs, and prepare progress reports.
• Support technical staff with data collection, research, and calculations for design projects.
• Perform modeling and design activities on water infrastructure projects.
• Gain exposure to CAD, GIS, and other design programs and use them as needed.
• Conduct field observations and assist with field work when required.
• Perform miscellaneous engineering/administrative duties as assigned.

Your Opportunity

As an Intern/Co-op, you will work in a team environment and have exposure to water infrastructure projects which may include dams, levees, transportation structures, solid waste landfills, coal combustion residual (CCR) units, water/wastewater piping, pump stations, treatment facilities, stormwater infrastructure etc. Candidates should be highly motivated and dependable who are taking or have taken civil engineering courses.

We are interested in candidates to support our multi-disciplinary team with any of the following areas of interest: water resources, site civil, water treatment, hydrology and hydraulics, structural, and construction. This is a terrific opportunity for a college student to support a number of exciting local and national projects for clients such as local municipalities, state government agencies, power utilities, industrial clients, and federal government.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Assisting in project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, tracking project costs, and completing progress reports

• Assisting technical staff with various project tasks, including researching, compiling, and evaluating project data, preparing reports, and performing calculations for design projects

• Perform modeling and design activities on a variety of water infrastructure projects

• Gaining exposure and performing basic tasks in CAD, GIS, and other design programs

• Performing construction observations and assisting with field work, as needed

• Completing other engineering/administrative duties as required

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for an extended period. An office presence is expected to maximize learning during the co-op period. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
