Job summary

HDR’s Civil Engineering Intern role offers hands-on experience at our Oʻahu and Maui locations. You will contribute to real projects in the water sector while learning from mentors and engineers in a supportive, employee-owned culture.

You will apply engineering techniques, develop professional skills, and participate in programs designed for early career engineers. This internship is based in Hawaii with opportunities to grow within HDR.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and strong problem-solving & communication skills.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills and ability to apply standard engineering techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-world experience on exciting projects.
  • Engage with recent graduates and company leaders through mentoring programs.
  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures under supervision.
  • Complete assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Civil Engineering Intern, we'll count on you to:

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
  • While students may be attending an accredited college or university outside of Hawaiʻi, preference will be given to candidates with strong Hawaiʻi roots and an interest in building their career in the state.

Internship opportunities are available at our Oʻahu and Wailuku (Maui) office locations. Candidates interested in either location are encouraged to apply.
