Job summary

MacKay is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join our Land Development team in Raton, NM, for 10-12 weeks during the summer of 2027. You will work alongside experienced engineers on real projects, contribute to water resources, energy, land development, municipal, and mining initiatives, and develop practical skills in a multidisciplinary firm.

• Must be enrolled in an accredited B.S. degree program in civil engineering or related field.
• Preference for students entering their senior year.
• Proficiency with Civil 3D is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop practical experience in solving engineering problems and applying standard methods and codes.
• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods for compliance and safety.
• Gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Meet deadlines and communicate effectively within a team environment.
• Prepare engineering designs and specifications for assigned project portions.
• Prepare cost estimates with quantities and material/time costs to assess feasibility.
