Job summary

WSP USA in the United States is seeking a Full-Time Civil Engineering Intern to join our Transportation Team at our Brentwood, TN or Knoxville, TN offices. This internship is part of the 12-week Summer Internship Program starting May 17, 2027, for students currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs.

As an intern, you will support engineering tasks to develop technical and professional skills, learn design software, assist with preliminary design calculations, and help prepare

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date August 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Civil Engineering and a desire to advance skills.
• Strong interpersonal and professional communication for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
• Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with health, safety and harassment policies.
• Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Civil Engineering and the latest design software used in the state.
• Assist with project research and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
