Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking engineering students for an internship in Reston, Virginia. This is not a remote position and you will work on real client projects in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

You will gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, and other engineering software while learning regulatory practices and project workflows in civil engineering.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering
• Mechanical, Biological, Biosystems, Chemical, or Agricultural Engineering
• Engineering Technology
• Hourly Range: $31/hr - $32/hr

Responsibilities

• Utilize software to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for clients.
• Contribute to pre-construction civil engineering design, planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects.
• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to realize client visions.
• Learn federal, state, and local regulations and Kimley-Horn’s practices and standards.
• Learn software programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Excel, MicroStation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro, and GIS.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for Engineering students to join our Reston, Virginia (VA) office! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.
• Contribute to the pre-construction civil engineering design, planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects ranging in size and scope.
• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
• Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
• Interns will learn one or more software programs specific to their disciplines: AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and/or GIS

Qualifications

In the process of receiving an ABET accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) in one of the following majors:

• Civil and/or Environmental Engineering
• Mechanical, Biological, Biosystems, Chemical, or Agricultural Engineering
• Engineering Technology
• Hourly Range: $31/hr - $32/hr
