Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. (SEH) is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join the Civil team in Minnetonka, MN. This part-time opportunity supports municipal roadway and utility projects, with on-site field observation and design tasks.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in civil engineering or related undergrad programs and possess transportation to visit sites. AutoCAD experience is a plus and relocation is not required.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Project Management or related undergraduate program.
• Reliable transportation to travel to office and construction sites.
• Ability to travel as needed for team meetings, client consultations, on-site inspections, etc.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist with on-site construction observation, surveying, and staking.
• Draft project information using AutoCAD and related software.
• Support project managers and engineers with project development and design tasks, maintaining clear communication with staff, contractors, and clients.

This Opportunity:

• Join a collaborative, close-knit team working on municipal roadway and utility projects both on construction sites and in the office.
• Support field staff by assisting with on-site construction observation, construction surveying, and staking.
• Assist project managers and engineers with project development and design tasks, while maintaining effective communication with staff, contractors, and clients.

Essential Qualifications:

• Candidate must have reliable transportation to travel to/from the office and nearby civil construction sites during the summer 2027 season.
• Actively enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Project Management or related undergraduate program
• Ability to travel as needed for team meetings, client consultations, on-site inspections, etc.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in construction inspection, monitoring, or supervision of work crews
• Knowledge of roadway plan and specification reading
• Previous experience and working knowledge of AutoCAD
