Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking engineering students for an in-office internship in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This non-remote role offers hands-on exposure to civil engineering tasks and software like AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, GIS, and more, with guidance from project managers across disciplines.

You will contribute to design, planning, permitting, and analysis for diverse projects while learning regulatory practices and Kimley-Horn standards.

Qualifications

• Pursuing ABET-accredited engineering degree (BS or MS) in Civil/Environmental, Mechanical, Biological, biosystems, chemical or agricultural engineering.
• Enrollment in an ABET-accredited program and expected graduation.
• Open to multiple engineering majors as listed in qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technical software to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for clients.
• Assist with pre-construction civil engineering design, planning, modification, permitting, and analysis across multiple projects.
• Collaborate across disciplines to help realize clients’ visions for future built environments.
• Learn and apply federal, state, and local regulations along with Kimley-Horn practices and standards.
• Gain familiarity with software programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Excel, and GIS.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for Engineering students to join our Fort Lauderdale, Florida (FL) office! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.
• Contribute to the pre-construction civil engineering design, planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects ranging in size and scope.
• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
• Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
• Interns will learn one or more software programs specific to their disciplines: AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and/or GIS

Qualifications

• In the process of receiving an ABET accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) in one of the following majors:
  • Civil and/or Environmental Engineering
  • Mechanical, Biological, Biosystems, Chemical, or Agricultural Engineering
  • Engineering Technology
