Job summary

Kimley-Horn in Cumming, GA is seeking Engineering students for Summer 2027 to support civil and environmental projects. You will assist senior engineers in analysis, deliverable preparation, and quality control for client work in a collaborative office setting.

You'll gain hands-on exposure to AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Excel, GIS and other software while learning regulatory requirements and multi-disciplinary project workflows that shape the built environment.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required (Bachelors or Masters) in Civil/Environmental, Mechanical, Biological, Biosystems, Chemical or Agricultural Eng, or Engineering Technology.
• Currently pursuing an engineering degree and able to participate in Summer 2027.

Responsibilities

• Analyze data, produce deliverables, and QC client outputs.
• Contribute to pre-construction civil design, planning, permitting, and analysis across projects.
• Collaborate across disciplines and with project managers to realize client visions.
• Learn and apply regulations and Kimley-Horn practices and standards.
• Gain familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, GIS and related tools.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for Engineering students to join our Cumming, Georgia (GA) office for Summer 2027! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC deliverables for our clients.
• Contribute to the pre-construction civil engineering design, planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects ranging in size and scope.
• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
• Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
• Interns will learn one or more software programs specific to their disciplines: AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro and/or GIS

Qualifications

• In the process of receiving an ABET accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) in one of the following majors:
  • Civil and/or Environmental Engineering
  • Mechanical, Biological, Biosystems, Chemical, or Agricultural Engineering
  • Engineering Technology
