Job summary

Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Drafter to support the drafting team within the Engineering Drafting Group in New York. You will prepare mechanical, electrical, structural and topographical drawings using CAD/Hybrid software, ensuring compliance with company and national standards.

The role requires 4 years of drafting experience including AutoCAD, strong attention to detail, and a valid driver's license. On-site work with standard business hours is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of documented drafting experience including four years with AutoCAD.
• Two years of experience as an Engineer Drafter 3rd Class or equivalent, required.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Access, required.
• Must be accurate, neat, and reliable, required.
• Driver's License required.
• Physical fitness necessary to carry out duties, required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical, electrical, structural and topographical drawings and diagrams using CAD/Hybrid Software from sketches, outlines, manufacturer drawings or catalogs.
• Drafting to company and national standards (symbols, nomenclature, engineering terms, etc.).
• Assist in drafting work of higher classifications including equipment/material selection.
• Revise or complete drawings from marked-up prints according to briefing.
• Prepare lists of material and specifications.
• Assist in training lower classification drafters and check their work.
• Interpret engineering drawings accurately.
• Take reliable field measurements and field sketches.
• Check manufacturers drawings and specifications as directed.
• Make simple engineering calculations and tabulations.
• Keep an accurate daily log of work performed.
• Perform other related or less skilled duties as assigned.

Overview

Under direct supervision performs a variety of duties in the Engineering Drafting Group.

This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical, electrical, structural and topographical drawings and diagrams, utilizing CAD and/or Hybrid Software, from sketches, general outlines, manufacturers drawings, or catalogs, standards and similar data.
• Performs drafting to accepted company and national standards, e.g., symbols, nomenclature, engineering terms, etc.
• Assist in drafting work of higher Engineering Drafter classifications including selection of equipment and material for projects handled.
• Revise or complete drawings from marked-up prints according to briefing.
• Prepare lists of material and specifications.
• Assist in the training of lower classification draftsmen as assigned. Check work of same or lower classification as assigned.
• Accurately interpret engineering drawings.
• Make reliable field measurements and field sketches.
• Check manufacturers drawings and specifications as directed.
• Make simple engineering calculations and tabulations.
