Job summary

STV is seeking a versatile civil engineer to join our Charlotte, NC team, supporting water resources, conveyance, transportation and general civil/site design for municipal and private sector infrastructure, as well as growth into additional markets.

The role involves preparing layouts and design plans for stormwater, utilities, grading, and drainage; coordinating with stakeholders; and performing inspections during construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years in civil, water/wastewater, or utility engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Experience with construction plans and specs for infrastructure projects.
• Experience with field investigations and preliminary studies.
• Water/wastewater pipeline design and utility relocation/coordination.
• NCDOT or municipal infra experience preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary layouts for facility plans, stormwater systems, underground utilities, grading and drainage using surveys and field investigations.
• Prepare design and construction plans and specifications for infrastructure projects such as municipal facilities, stormwater piping, open water drainage, roadways, potable water and sewer systems.
• Design and coordinate the design and changes for water, wastewater, power, gas and fiber optic utility lines for large water and roadway projects.
• Perform engineering inspections of infrastructure projects, including utility line relocations, during construction.
• Prepare utility plans, profiles, specifications, cost estimates, review shop drawings and review contractor change requests.
• Lead stakeholder reporting and interagency communication for NCDOT, municipalities, utility owners, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Assist with permitting, easements, right-of-way, and construction-phase coordination; prepare supplemental engineering support documents and inspections.
• Maintain project records throughout the duration of projects.

Job description

STV is seeking a versatile civil engineer to join our growing Charlotte, NC team. This position will support varied projects in water resources, conveyance, transportation and general civil/site design for municipal and private sector infrastructure, as well as be part of growth efforts into additional markets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary layouts for facility plans, stormwater systems, underground utilities (existing and proposed), grading and drainage systems using surveys and field investigations


• Prepare design and construction plans and specifications for infrastructure projects such as municipal facilities (maintenance buildings), stormwater piping systems, open water drainage systems, roadways, potable water systems and sewer systems


• Design and coordinate the design and changes for water, wastewater, power, gas and fiber optic utility lines and their interactions for large water and large roadway improvement projects


• Perform engineering inspections of infrastructure projects, including utility line relocations, during the construction phase of large water and large roadway improvement projects


• Prepare utility plans, profiles, specifications, cost estimates, review shop drawings and review contractor change requests


• Lead the stakeholder reporting and interagency communication efforts for NCDOT, municipalities, utility owners, contractors, and project stakeholders via public meetings, client meetings, and reporting for the client as the technical liaison


• Assist with permitting, easements, right-of-way, and construction-phase coordination. Prepare supplemental engineering support documents, permit applications and inspections


• Maintain project records throughout the duration of projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.


• Minimum of 8 years of civil, water/wastewater, or utility engineering experience.


• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.


• Experience with the preparation of construction plans and specifications for infrastructure projects


• Experience with conducting field assessments and investigations for preliminary engineering studies


• Experience with water and wastewater pipeline design and utility relocation/coordination.


• NCDOT or municipal infrastructure experience preferred.


• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or OpenRoads preferred.

Compensation Range

$99,431.03 - $113,635.46
