Key Responsibilities

This Civil Engineer (Structural) is available in the Division of Dam Safety Inspections in the Office of Energy Projects.

As a CIVIL ENGINEER (STRUCTURAL) some of your typical work assignments include: Conducting dam inspections, performs and reviews analyses, reviews plans and specifications for design and construction, and provides technical comments for licensed hydroelectric projects with difficult, complex, and/or controversial features with a focus on the structural elements, such as concrete dams, gates, intakes, powerhouses, etc.

Preparing engineering reports and letters, including detailed comments and recommendations, to establish and document dam safety of hydroelectric projects. Evaluating the adequacy of design, constructability, and compliance with the Commission's guidelines and current engineering criteria and practices for a wide range of structures including various types of concrete dams and appurtenant structures such as gates, intakes, and powerhouses.

PASS/FAIL COURSES: If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society. GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study.

Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
