Job summary

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Perform blast analysis in accordance with UFC 4-010-01 DoD Minimum Antiterrorism Standards for Buildings and progressive collapse analysis in accordance with UFC 4-023-03 Design of Buildings to Resist Progressive Collapse.
  • Conduct site investigations to obtain data for initiating in-house design projects and participate in initial design conferences on A-E design projects as required.
  • Conduct site investigations to evaluate existing structures such as bridges, dams, levees, etc., to comply with routine inspection schedules for USACE owned civil works facilities.
  • Coordinate the planning and design work among multi-discipline teams of engineers, architects, interior designers and other professionals for a wide variety of project designs, unique one-time projects, and improvements to existing projects.
  • Manage budgets/schedules for engineering services, execute design projects/services, produce studies, design reports, design memorandums, plans and specifications, and ensure the design/service satisfies the customer's objectives.
Conditions of Employment
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Registration is required.
  • Percentage of time to be spent TDY is 25% including OCONUS travel.
Qualifications
  • Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering from an ABET-accredited program or a program that meets the listed prerequisites. OR combination of education and experience that meets the required standards.
  • Professional registration or licensure as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensed Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, DC, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
  • Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination, or other written test required for professional registration.
  • Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences, including specified academic courses.
  • Related curriculum leading to a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate scientific field, with at least one year of professional engineering experience under supervision.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑11 grade level, applying engineering theories, concepts, standards, and methods for design and technical review of structural systems related to Civil Works and Military projects.
