Job summary

Wightman in Fort Wayne seeks a Civil Engineer - Site to provide design and plan production for a wide range of civil projects, including site layouts, grading, and utilities. You will work with a multidisciplinary team and coordinate with agencies to obtain approvals.

Responsibilities include drafting with AutoCAD Civil 3D, preparing specifications, calculations, and reports, and mentoring others on design standards. A PE license or path to licensure within one year is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (ABET accredited).
  • 5+ years of construction or civil engineering experience.
  • Active PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Design and plan production for civil projects including site layouts, grading, drainage, and utilities.
  • Perform AutoCAD Civil 3D design/drafting for civil projects.
  • Coordinate with government agencies and client staff for design information and approvals.
  • Prepare specifications, calculations, and plans; assist with proposals and fee estimates.
  • Support quality assurance to ensure work is carried out as designed and oversee site investigations.

Civil Engineer - Site

Summary: The Civil Engineer will provide design and plan production for general civil design on a wide variety of projects, which may includes site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities. Will perform complex assignments, exercising judgment in evaluation, selection, and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures.

  • Performs,providestrainingfor,andguidesqualityassurance,ensuringprojectsgetcarriedoutasdesigned, andrecommendsmodificationsasneeded
  • Abilitytoidentifyengineeringandsurveyingservicesneededbytheclient, andtheabilitytodraftproposalsandestimate fees
  • Coordinatewithgovernmentagencies,clientstaff,andotherprofessionalstoobtaindesigninformationandapprovals

  • Broad knowledge base of civil engineering projects, rather than a subject matter expert in any one civil engineering area
Organizational Relationships:
  • Reports to the Regional Engineering Manager
  • May have responsibility for multiple direct reports
Required Education/Experience:
  • Minimum of aBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineeringfrom an ABET
  • 5+ years’ experience in construction or civil engineering field
  • Active PE License or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment
Travel
  • Position based in Fort Wayne
  • 10-15% local travel
