Job summary

City of Pomona is seeking a civil engineer to join the Public Works Department’s Engineering team at the Assistant, Associate, or Associate Civil Engineer levels. The role involves designing and managing public infrastructure projects, including streets and water systems, with licensure requirements varying by level.

Ideal candidates hold a civil engineering degree, California licensure (EIT/PE as applicable), and strong self-management, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
• EIT or PE licensure depending on level.
• Valid California driver's license and ability to obtain professional licensure as required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as project manager on assigned projects and supervise staff.
• Establish design criteria for streets, water/sewer, and related infrastructure.
• Prepare estimates of work/materials and coordinate bids.
• Research codes and develop construction plans and specs.
• Monitor project progress to meet time and cost schedules.
• Review subdivision/site plans for compliance with city ordinances.
• Provide GIS and technical support to divisions and public counter assistance.
• Participate in Development Review Committee and meet with developers.
