Job summary

Mattern & Craig in Tennessee is seeking a Project Manager within our Civil Engineering division who will lead design projects and mentor a growing team in a tight-knit, employee-owned firm.

You will manage scope, schedule, and client relations for utility, drainage, and land development projects, with opportunities for advancement, strong collaboration, and a culture dedicated to ownership and long-term community impact in Johnson City or Kingsport.

Qualifications

• TN Registered PE or ability to obtain TN licensure within 6 months.
• BSCE from ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in project management and client services.
• Strong engineering design and communication skills.
• Leadership and team management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple civil engineering design projects (utility, stormwater, land development).
• Develop project schedules and budgets.
• Supervise design team members and ensure quality assurance.
• Ensure compliance with design criteria and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in developing Statements of Qualifications (SOQs), technical proposals, and presentations.
• Coordinate with clients, sub-consultants, government, regulatory, and funding agencies.
