Civil Engineer/Project Manager
Role Description: Huitt-Zollars, Inc, has a full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer/Project Manager for our Phoenix, Arizona office with at least 10 years’ experience and will be a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Arizona. This role requires a talented, creative, and connected person who can manage projects from start to finish and help grow the Public Works initiative. This position will work in close collaboration with the Public Works Vice President to expand our public works and infrastructure group, manage projects and civil engineers, and develop new opportunities. Duties include but are not limited to initial project research, plan production, and management of plan production staff and plan processing.

Duties:
- Function as a Lead Civil Engineer.
- Prepare preliminary engineering reports.
- Research jurisdictional requirements for incorporation into design and construction drawings.
- Prepare proposals/contracts and project work plans and schedules.
- Use design software such as WaterCAD, SewerCAD, HEC-RAS, and FLO-2D.
- Prepare design and construction drawings using AutoCAD and information obtained from research activities.
- Coordinate client management and marketing efforts for future work.
- Prepare GIS exhibits using ArcGIS.
- Conduct site visits and document findings.
- Work directly with clients and direct a staff with varied levels of experience and expertise.
- Attend, record, and distribute meeting minutes and assist with general project correspondence.
- Write or prepare graphic materials for presentations or documents.
- Lead a team of engineers and drafters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and follow comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project.
- Review project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget.
- Contribute to successful delivery and performance of projects.
- Cultivate relationships with clients.
- Understand, follow, and enforce Huitt-Zollars' business process.
- Take active steps in the pursuit of winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients.
- Understand and follow HZ QMS and Quality initiatives.
- Engage in the training, coaching, and mentoring of junior staff.
- Maintain job knowledge current.

Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Must be a licensed PE in Arizona with a minimum of 8 years of experience.
- Understand successful proposal writing (SOQ/RFP) and budget management for public contracts.
- Ability to market, communicate, and develop relationships with public agency clients.
- Experience with public roadway engineering, water & sewer improvements, and storm drain improvements.
- Expertise in hydrology and hydraulics, including floodplain delineations and LOMRs.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Deliver proactive communication with clients.
- Develop relationships that allow for ease in communication and problem-solving.
