Position Overview

SOL Engineering is seeking an experienced licensed Senior Civil Engineer to drive business growth and project success for local and regional clients. The role involves leading civil design projects, managing budgets, and business development activities. The ideal candidate is a “seller-doer” with experience in pursuing business opportunities while leading and supervising a multi-discipline team.

Work Locations

Jackson, MS (1 position), Memphis, TN (1 position), and Huntsville, AL (1 position) - Relocation Assistance may be provided.

SOL Engineering does not sponsor work visas at this time.

Job Duties

1. Lead and manage civil design projects and project delivery teams from concept through completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, including design, analysis, and production for various project types.
2. Serve as the Engineer of Record for assigned civil engineering projects.
3. Develop and manage office and project-level budgets, establishing and enforcing standards supporting SOL's financial success.
4. Develop and execute Business Development initiatives to identify new opportunities and retain existing clients and contracts.
5. Manage technical execution of programs and projects, including developing project management plans, quality requirements, procedures, and goals.
6. Develop, manage, and execute comprehensive project management plans covering risk, quality, change management, schedules, budgets, and communication.

Job Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited school; a master’s degree is a plus.
2. 10+ years of civil engineering experience.
3. Current Professional Engineering registration in Tennessee, Alabama, or Mississippi, with the ability to obtain registration in multiple states within one year.
4. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
5. Strong time and project management skills.
6. Highly organized, dependable, and professional.
7. Experience with federal, state, regional, county, and local permitting is a plus.
8. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for producing construction documents.
