Job summary

AE2S in Sioux Falls, SD seeks a Civil Engineering in Training (EIT) to work under project management and engineers. You will gain hands-on experience in report writing, design, plans, specifications, construction observation and administration while emphasizing personal and career development.

You’ll support water and municipal projects, assist with plans and cost estimates, and collaborate on site design, grading, streets, water/sewer systems, and facilities. Some travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
• FE certification is required or current.
• Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
• Willingness to travel as required.

Civil Engineering in Training (EIT) - Sioux Falls, SD

A Civil Engineer in Training will work under the direct supervision of project management and project engineers and will have the opportunity to develop skills in report preparation, design, plans and specifications, construction observation, and construction administration, with an emphasis on personal/career development.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction observation and administration on water and municipal related projects
• Assist Project Manager with the development and preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates
• Assist Project Managers in design and construction of private development site design, sit grading, city streets, city water and sewer infrastructure, and municipal facilities
• Assist professional surveyors with field work on crews performing data gathering for designs or construction staking
• Assist in preparation of technical reports
• Occasional travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Fundamentals in Engineering certified
• AutoCAD Civil 3D experience
• 2+ years' experience working on civil engineering related projects
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to travel as required

Physical Qualifications

• Ability to walk up to 3-miles on uneven terrain.
• Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
• Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
• Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight.
• May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
• May be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to, flame resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear.
• May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload.
• May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town.
