The Village of Carol Stream seeks a qualified individual for the position of Civil Engineer II or Senior Civil Engineer. The Village may hire either position within the salary range presented depending on qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape critical municipal projects including new development, roadways, stormwater, water distribution and other infrastructure systems through the planning, scheduling, design and construction oversight, of these various projects.This includes the preparation and professional review of development plans ensuring compliance with Federal, State and local regulations; coordination of detailed project stages; plan and specification preparation including oversight of budget allocations, cost estimates, and the letting process for purchases and services; and grant acquisitions.

Qualified individuals must possess the following:

Civil Engineer II

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field from an accredited engineering program.
• Must be a certified Engineer in Training, with the ability to obtain PE License within 2 years.
• At least 2 years of professional engineering design and project management experience, with prior experience within a municipal sector.
• A valid Illinois Vehicle Operator’s License.

Senior Civil Engineer (This position has supervisory responsibilities)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, with additional Masters level coursework preferred.
• A valid State of Illinois Professional Engineers License.
• Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible municipal civil engineering experience or equivalent, with at least one year of supervisory experience.
• A valid Illinois Vehicle Operator’s License.
• Certification as a Floodplain Manager (CFM) a plus.

Starting salary for Civil Engineer II: $96,000 - $106,900

Starting salary for Senior Civil Engineer: $107,000 - $130,500

Either position also includes an excellent benefit package provided including health (80% employer paid), dental, and life insurance, as well as IMRF pension system. Position will be open until filled.
