Job summary

State of Vermont in Berlin, VT seeks a Civil Engineer I - Materials & Research to review and develop materials specifications, and to coordinate acceptance criteria with staff and external partners. The role includes supporting digital construction plan sets and maintaining program documentation.

Fieldwork and occasional after-hours attendance may be required in a dynamic public works environment. Open to all state employees and external applicants, this permanent, full-time position advances

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, architectural engineering, or related technical field.
  • Associates degree plus two years of engineering experience or licensure as an Engineer Intern.
  • College senior in the final year of a bachelor’s degree program in civil engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical review and maintenance of materials-related specifications and acceptance criteria.
  • Review and revise standard and special specifications for accuracy and compliance with Agency requirements.
  • Establish and evaluate material acceptance criteria and coordinate with internal staff and external stakeholders.
  • Support the organization and delivery of materials-related components of digital construction plan sets.
  • Maintain and manage key materials program documentation to stay current and properly controlled.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure consistent materials requirements and delivery of information.
  • Support project delivery within the Construction and Materials Bureau from development through construction.
