Job summary

UCC Environmental seeks a civil/structural engineer to design and analyze industrial structures and foundations. You will prepare analyses for steel and concrete systems, develop civil plans, and manage design activities to meet scope, schedule and budget.

The role requires 5+ years in civil/structural engineering, proficiency in structural software, and knowledge of IBC/ASCE/AISC/ACI/OSHA. PE license is preferred; travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering required; master’s preferred.
• 5+ years civil/structural engineering experience with heavy industrial design.
• PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil and structural design for assigned contracts.
• Prepare engineering analyses for steel and reinforced concrete systems.
• Develop civil plans and specifications within scope, budget, and schedule.
• Coordinate design activities and review work by engineering partners.
• Ensure compliance with codes (IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, OSHA, etc.).

Work experience with a privately-held company will be beneficial.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for the civil and structural design for assigned contracts in accordance with scope, schedule, budget and quality requirements.Incorporate the use of Structural Department standards, software, and applicable design codes and standards in the preparation of all design assignments and proposals to meet customer specifications and code requirements.Ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with customer specifications, local, state and federal regulations and standards.Responsible for the preparation of engineering analysis and design of structural steel and reinforced concrete systems in compliance with customer specifications, local, state and federal regulations codes and standards.Responsible for the development and implementation of civil engineering plans and specifications in accordance with scope, schedule, budget and quality requirements.Ensure any variance and scope changes are acted upon and documents them in accordance with the cost and quality management process.Organize, direct, and coordinate all design assignment activities for assigned contract and proposal work in accordance with Corporate Policies, Guidelines and Procedures Manual and Department requirements.Maintain effective communication and working relationships within the department and between departments thus promoting a cooperative team atmosphere.Write work scope documents and specifications, coordinate and review work performed by engineering partners.All other duties as assigned.Education and Experience:A Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
