Position: Civil Engineer - Highways

Reports to: Department Manager – Civil

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills are preferred.
• Ability to work independently with guidance from supervisors.
• Problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Design of highways including alignment, grading, stormwater management, traffic control, signing, striping, utility relocation, and erosion control.
• Prepare calculations, reports, and spreadsheets.
• Draft technical specifications in accordance with DOT and project requirements.
• Calculate quantities and develop construction cost estimates for budgeting and bidding.
• Lead and collaborate with design teams to develop detailed construction plans.
• Create and modify engineering plans using AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Conduct field investigations, data collection, and infrastructure inventory.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer’s License in NY or NJ.
• At least 5 years of experience in civil/site or transportation engineering.
• Experience with highway design.
• Knowledge of NYSDOT or NJDOT standards is a plus.

Additional Information

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 per year
