Job summary

Garver’s Federal team seeks a Civil Engineer for federal projects in Overland Park, KS. The engineer will work on roadways, trails, site development, grading, stormwater, utilities, pavements, master planning, and training ranges for Air Force, Navy, and USACE.

You will contribute to multi-disciplinary design deliverables, cost estimates, and technical reports, plus onsite construction observation and submittal reviews using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related tools.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil engineering bachelor’s degree.
• Licensed Professional Engineer.
• 7+ years civil design experience.
• Detail-oriented, team player with strong initiative.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Some travel may be required with overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Perform design for federal projects including roadways, trails, site development, grading, stormwater, utilities, pavements, master planning, and related civil engineering tasks.
• Produce full design phase deliverables: drawings, specifications, cost estimates, technical reports and narratives.
• Provide onsite construction observation, administration, and submittal reviews.
• Use AutoCAD, Civil 3D and other civil design software.

Job description

As part of Garver’s growing Federal team, this Civil Engineer- Federal Projectswill be largely responsible for performing design for federal projects, including roadways, trails, site development, grading, stormwater management, utilities, pavements, master planning, training ranges, civil works, and other related general civil engineering task. Typical clients are those from the Air Force, Navy, National Guard, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, including both design-bid-build and design-build projects.

This Project Engineer must have the ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplined team, work with diverse clients and must be capable of assisting and/or producing full design phase deliverables including drawings, specifications, cost estimates, technical reports, and narratives. This engineer will also have the opportunity toperform onsite construction observation duties, construction administration, and submittal reviews for projects under construction. Design development software packages including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other civil design packages will be used.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer
• 7+ years of civil design experience
• Detail- oriented and a team player with strong self-initiative to meet deadlines
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Some travel may be required with occasional overnight stays

Preferred Skills

• Previous experience working with design software packages such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D
