Position Summary
As a Civil Engineer you will work in a multidisciplinary design team, producing civil engineering designs for mixed‑use, commercial, educational, sports, hospitality and municipal buildings, as well as site development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with architects, other engineers, and clients as part of an integrated design process.
- Design, coordinate and prepare site development documents with Autodesk Civil 3D, including site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading, drainage, storm sewer, stormwater management, paving, site utilities, and related deliverables.
- Perform complex assignments, exercising professional judgment in the selection and implementation of civil engineering techniques.
- Independently perform civil calculations and conduct code research.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, narratives, and jurisdiction permitting applications.
- Write and review specifications.
- Review shop drawings and other construction‑related correspondence.
- Conduct site visits as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- 0‑6 years of civil engineering experience focused on site development related to buildings.
- Experience working in an A/E and/or civil engineering design firm.
- Understanding of the integrated design process and collaborative teamwork.
- Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D.
- Working knowledge of civil engineering software such as Hydraflow, Storm and Sanitary Sewer Analysis, InfraWorks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Goal‑oriented with strong problem‑solving, creativity, and attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Understanding of storm‑water management requirements and hydrologic design.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam passed.
- Interest in sustainable site design and low‑impact strategies.
- Knowledge of ArcGIS software.
- Knowledge of SketchUp or other rendering software for site plan presentations.
Work Environment
DLR Group follows a four‑day in‑office work model, with flexibility to work remotely on Fridays.
