Job summary

Stafford County invites applications for a Civil Engineer role focused on design, construction, and inspection of development projects. You will review plans, cost estimates, specs, and unit pricing, and monitor progress of public improvements. PE or EIT is preferred; 1–2 years of experience is expected.

Under general supervision, you may supervise staff and coordinate with Planning & Zoning and Capital Construction to ensure regulatory compliance and quality engineering outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in civil engineering or related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in construction or engineering design.
• Registration as PE or Engineer in Training (EIT) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews subdivision, site plans, and other development plans for regulatory compliance.
• Reviews developer security cost estimates for proposed public improvements.
• Provides technical review comments and participates in pre-application meetings.
• Interprets design standards and presents technical information to the public and engineers.
• Prepares public meeting packages and presents information in a public setting.
• Tracks rezoning, CUP applications, and proffers administration.
• Inspects development construction and reports on status and remaining work.
• Collaborates with Planning & Zoning and Capital Construction departments.
• Maintains technical files for related projects.
