Job summary

SpaceXAI is seeking a Civil Engineer to join the High Power Engineering team in Memphis, TN, to design, build, operate, and maintain civil aspects of a high-capacity battery storage plant. You will work with a small on-site team to scale power systems on a schedule driven by compute demand.

Required are a Bachelor's in civil engineering and 3+ years of civil/structural design experience; PE license or intent to obtain is preferred. This on-site role requires travel up to 25% and no remote work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering.
• 3+ years of civil or structural design experience on industrial, energy, or data center sites.
• Professional Engineering license or intention to obtain.
• Experience with NFPA 855 or energy-storage site civil work is preferred.
• Experience with seismic qualification and severe-weather hardening of outdoor electrical equipment is preferred.
• AutoCAD Civil 3D or equivalent site-design software experience.

Responsibilities

• Own civil and site design for the battery storage plant: pads, foundations, grading, drainage, access roads, fire lanes, and equipment yards.
• Support fire and life-safety case with civil provisions: water supply, hydrant layout, deflagration venting clearances, and emergency vehicle access.
• Coordinate seismic and severe-weather structural design basis for storage blocks, transformers, and equipment supports.
• Produce issued-for-construction civil packages: site plans, sections, details, specifications, and bid support.
• Resolve field RFIs, submittals, and installation quality issues during construction.
• Coordinate underground electrical duct banks, oil containment, and grounding grid civil interfaces with Design and Ops/Build engineers.
• Maintain as-built civil records for the storage plant.
