Job summary

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Civil Engineer in Anchorage, Alaska, with 0–3 years of experience. The successful candidate will join a multi-discipline team recognized for excellence and contribute to land development design, site layouts, grading, and stormwater facilities with growth opportunities.

The Anchorage Civil Engineering group offers mentorship and training within a supportive, recognized firm culture. EIT eligibility within 2 years and strong communication are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 0-3 years of civil engineering experience.
• EIT or ability to obtain EIT within 2 years.
• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Intermediate computer skills (email, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics).
• Ability to work in a highly motivated team and grow knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

• Support civil engineering tasks including land development design and site layouts.
• Develop grading plans and stormwater facilities.
• Coordinate multi-discipline projects with internal teams.
• Prepare design documents using AutoCAD/Civil3D.

Job Description

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Civil Engineer with zero to three years of working experience, who wants to be a part of our office growth and culture. The successful candidate will have a desire to work, grow, and have fun with a multi-discipline engineering team that has recently been recognized as Best Engineering Firm by Alaska Business magazine. Our Anchorage Civil Engineering group is growing and offers the benefits of a close-knit team combined with the resources of a nationally recognized engineering firm.

This position will support the team in providing our clients with all aspects of civil engineering, including land development design, site layouts, grading plans, stormwater management facilities, water quality best management practices, utility design, and multi-discipline coordination.

Our Anchorage Civil Engineering department consists of a growing team of professionals that enjoy leveraging our collective experience to deliver innovative solutions focused on our clients' success. With two Principal engineers, six licensed Senior Engineers, and additional team members including EITs and dedicated designers, you'll find plenty of opportunities for training, mentorship, and support to help you grow your career.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering.
• From zero to three (0 - 3) years of experience in the civil engineering profession.
• EIT or ability to obtain EIT status within 2 years.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including oral presentation skills.
• Possess intermediate level computer skills necessary for daily activities, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and simple graphics.
• Able to work on a highly motivated team, think outside the box, and be proud of the work you do while having a passion for expanding your knowledge and skills.

Desired Skills

• Possess technical writing skills.
• Assist in managing CAD and production efforts.
• Solid understanding of commonly used hydrologic and hydraulic calculation methods.
• Perform research and documentation for internal and external distribution.
• Experience utilizing AutoCAD and Civil3D to prepare civil engineering design documents.
