Job summary

You will contribute to planning and design of site development, drainage, and stormwater systems using AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, and GIS, working with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and public agencies.

Job Title: Civil Engineer

This Civil Engineer position offers the opportunity to work under the guidance of a licensed Professional Engineer as part of a collaborative project team designing industrial, commercial, and residential land development projects throughout Northern Virginia and Eastern West Virginia. You will contribute to the planning and design of site development and stormwater systems, using industry-standard design software and working closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and public agencies.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop civil engineering projects for industrial, commercial, and residential sites, with a focus on land development.
• Produce detailed civil design plans and drawings using AutoCAD, Carlson, and AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
• Prepare and review project schematics and site plans, ensuring compliance with applicable engineering standards and regulations.
• Assist in the planning and design of hydraulic and stormwater collection systems, including drainage, erosion control, and sediment control measures.
• Develop project schedules, manage timelines, and adjust tasks as deadlines and priorities change.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate project activities and ensure successful project delivery.
• Utilize GIS tools and construction estimating software to support accurate project planning and cost estimation.
• Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and public agencies, providing project updates and addressing questions or concerns.
• Contribute to technical writing and documentation, including project proposals, reports, and supporting materials.
• Support Project Managers and Senior Engineers with various design, analysis, and coordination tasks as needed.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and external partners to foster a cooperative team environment.

Essential Skills

• 1–3+ years of civil engineering experience in land development projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D software for civil design and site development.
• Experience with civil engineering design, including site development, drainage, stormwater management, erosion control, and sediment control.
• Ability to assist in the planning and design of hydraulic and stormwater collection systems.
• Strong oral and written communication skills for interacting with clients, agencies, and team members.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Proficiency in the design and development of land development projects, including industrial, commercial, and residential sites.
• EIT certification or PE license is preferred but not required.
• Strong desire to contribute in a team-focused environment while taking initiative for individual professional development.
• Flexibility and adaptability in managing job tasks as project needs evolve.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $110000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
