Job summary

recruitAbility is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) for a growing client in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience across municipal and private development projects, working with Designers, PEs, and Project Managers.

You will assist in transportation and hydraulic design, prepare site plans, perform hydraulic calculations, and support permitting. Collaboration and mentoring are emphasized to support licensure and career growth.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree required.
• 0-4 years of civil design experience across municipal or private projects.
• Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with PMs, Designers, PEs and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings and data to support project planning.
• Assist with planning and design of transportation and hydraulic systems.
• Develop designs for stormwater, sewer, pipelines, parking, sidewalks, roadways.
• Prepare site grading and utility plans coordinating with municipalities.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and prepare permitting documents.
• Calculate load, water flow and material stress for design specs.
• Communicate project status with Project Managers, clients and stakeholders.
• Prepare project reports, data and documentation as needed.

Our client is a well-established engineering consulting firm with over 30 years of experience, providing creative and sustainable engineering solutions while building long-term relationships with their clients and communities.

They are looking to add a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to their growing team in the DFW area. This is a great opportunity for an early-career Civil Engineer to gain hands‑on experience across municipal and private development projects, while working closely with experienced Designers, Professional Engineers, and Project Managers.

What You'll Do

• Analyze and interpret survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to support project planning.
• Assist with the planning and design of transportation and hydraulic systems and structures in accordance with construction and government standards.
• Develop designs for stormwater, sewer, pipelines, parking, sidewalks, roadways, and other civil infrastructure.
• Prepare site grading and utility plans while coordinating with municipalities and other project stakeholders.
• Perform hydraulic calculations and prepare construction documents for permitting.
• Calculate load and grade requirements, water flow rates, and material stress factors to determine design specifications.
• Communicate project status with Project Managers, clients, and other relevant parties.
• Prepare project reports, data, and documentation as needed.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 0-4 years of experience designing civil projects, including commercial, industrial, retail, education, municipal, roadway, or utility projects.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Project Managers, Designers, Professional Engineers, clients, and municipal stakeholders.

Schedule

This is a full-time, exempt position with a 40-hour workweek and flexible scheduling options. Employees can work either five 8-hour days or four 9-hour days with a half day on Friday morning, with core business hours from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM.
