Job summary

Stantec is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to work on land development projects in the Portland market. The role supports independent work and team collaboration, performing analyses, creating exhibits, and preparing construction documents.

The ideal candidate will have a PE license or be eligible, at least 5 years of relevant experience, and strong communication skills to interface with clients and agencies. Local knowledge and a drive to deliver high-quality designs are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer preferred or required in state of practice.
  • Minimum of 5 years of land development experience, local resume preferred.
  • Experience directing junior staff on project deliverables is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and revise civil design documents including grading, drainage, and streets.
  • Perform hydrology/hydraulic modeling and pipe network analyses.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants/owners/contractors.
  • Estimate quantities and assist in project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
  • Contribute to project specifications development and constructability reviews.
  • Lead or support multi-project coordination and QA/QC activities.

Your Opportunity

Stantec is looking for an experienced Civil Engineer with the ability to work independently and as a team member on a wide range of land development projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Project Manager. The desired candidate will perform a variety of tasks which may include engineering analysis, calculations, exhibits preparation, and construction documents. Stantec has offices in most large metropolitan areas throughout the United States. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Proficiency in preparing, grading, drainage, wet utility, street improvements, and other civil engineering design documents, as well as some experience in hydrology/hydraulic storm water modeling and hydraulic modeling of pipe networks.

  • Utilizes technologies in development of three-dimensional models of civil systems and provides markups for junior engineers/designers.

  • Prepares and revises documentation in various civil phases.

  • Participate in coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors, and vendors.

  • Prepares construction items quantity estimates and basic opinion of cost analysis.

  • Assists senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.

  • May lead the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.

  • Performs and oversees the performance of calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.

  • Utilizes advanced techniques for the analysis of specialized civil elements.

  • Participates in constructability review.

  • Conducts quality assurance and quality control on projects.

  • Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the civil group.

  • Works on multiple projects.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience with land development projects in the Portland market.

  • Requisite knowledge and application of agency and industry applicable codes.

  • General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.

  • Strong knowledge of civil systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.

  • Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.

  • Possesses excellent time-management skills.

  • Thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting, and efficient use of time and resources.

  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.

  • Thorough understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, etc.)

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering

  • Licensed Professional Engineer

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.

  • Local project resume and experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience in directing junior staff in execution of project deliverables is preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:

• Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA areas-$107,300.00 - $155,500.00 Annually
