Bureau of Reclamation is seeking a Civil Engineer for the Lower Colorado Region, Civil Group, Clark County, NV at Hoover Dam. Pay will vary by grade level and duty location. First-time hires to the Federal government typically start at the step 1 rate.
Qualified applicants will have ABET-accredited engineering education and professional civil engineering experience. This position emphasizes infrastructure, facilities, design, and maintenance planning in a critical hydropower setting.
You will serve as a CIVIL ENGINEER. This position is located within the Lower Colorado Region, Civil Group, Clark County, NV at HOOVER DAM. Pay will vary based on grade level and/or duty location for which you're selected. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Basic Educational Requirement AND Specialized Experience for the series to which you are applying.
In addition to the specialized experience requirements for this position, you must meet at least one of the following:
A. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one or more program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); OR (2) include differential and integral calculus AND courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

B. Combination of education AND experience: - college level education, training AND/OR technical experience that furnished: (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, AND (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.

Specialized Experience Requirement at the GS-11 level: To qualify at the GS-11, you must possess:
Specialized Experience Requirement: One full year of specialized experience equivalent in responsibility and scope to the GS-09 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is professional experience supporting civil engineering, facility, infrastructure, construction, design, or maintenance projects.
-OR- Education: Successful completion of at least 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. (Degree must reflect the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.).
-OR- Combination of education and experience: You may combine specialized experience and education to meet the minimum qualifications.
Specialized Experience Requirement at the GS-12 level: To qualify at the GS-12, you must possess:
Specialized Experience Requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is professional experience managing, leading, coordinating, or serving as a technical representative for civil engineering, facility, infrastructure, construction, design, or maintenance projects.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
