Legacy Engineering, P.C. in Fredericksburg, VA seeks a Civil Engineer to design land development projects and support site and infrastructure plans. The role involves CAD drafting, plans sets, hydrology, roadways, and coordination with a small, client-focused team.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of land development experience, proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D, Hydraflow, WaterCAD, and GIS, and a willingness to learn locality requirements. Hybrid work in our Fredericksburg office is available.

Formación

• 1–3 years of experience designing and managing land development projects.
• Experience with land development applications is preferred but not required.
• Basic understanding of zoning, utilities, grading, stormwater and landscape concepts.

Responsabilidades

• Create CAD drawings and details for site, subdivision, and infrastructure plans.
• Prepare full sets of construction plans and related documents.
• Design water, sanitary, and storm sewer systems and roadways.
• Prepare erosion and sediment control plans and SWM/BMP computations.
• Coordinate with staff and manage multiple project deadlines.
• Assist project managers with city/county/federal submissions.
• Conduct site visits to document conditions and monitor progress.
• Support planning and zoning exhibits and planning layouts.

About this position

Legacy Engineering, P.C., is a small, woman-owned civil engineering firm specializing in land development design, geotechnical services, construction materials testing and inspections along with surveying and consulting. We are headquartered in Fredericksburg, Virginia and proudly serve clients throughout the Commonwealth.

This role is located in Fredericksburg, VA consisting of hybrid work in our office. Candidates must be located in the Fredericksburg area or willing to relocate.

Job Responsibilities

• Create CAD drawings and details for site, subdivision, and infrastructure plans
• Contribute to the preparation of full sets of construction plans
• Site layout and utility design including water, sanitary, and storm sewer
• Horizontal and vertical roadway design
• Prepare erosion and sediment control plans
• Generate SWM/BMP facilities hydrologic computations
• Site & house grading
• Waterline analysis
• Complete SWM plans and design BMP facilities
• Prepare site work quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and bond estimates
• Prepare planning/zoning exhibits & plans
• Utilize ITE manual, lighting software, landscaping, HY-8, etc.
• Perform quality control and plan reviews
• Plan–CDP’s, GDP’s, CUP’s, layout feasibilities, site feasibilities, grading studies, etc.
• Coordinate with other staff as necessary
• Manage deadlines and communicate progress of multiple on-going projects
• Assist project managers with deliverables for city/county/federal/private submissions
• Site visits to inspect and document conditions and/or construction progress and assist in field revisions and as-built projects (if local)
• Any other assigned tasks

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience with design and management of land development engineering projects
• Experience with preparing and processing land development applications is preferred but not required
• Basic understanding and willingness to learn civil engineering concepts and locality requirements which include but are not limited to zoning/planning exhibits & layouts, utility & storm sewer design, grading concepts on large and small scales, stormwater management, landscape design, etc.
• GIS experience preferred
• Motivated and dedicated personality – willingness to learn and grow
• Familiarity with industry standards and requirements
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D, Hydraflow, Storm and Sanitary Analysis, WaterCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred
• Experience providing excellent customer service
• Team player with great interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to lift and/or move 50+ pounds.
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time in an office environment.
• Ability to maintain a valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
• Attention to detail and quality, while adhering to all safety requirements.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills required.
• Use of company provided equipment and working knowledge of MS Office programs.
• Any other assigned tasks
