Job Title: Civil EngineerJob Description

This Civil Engineer role focuses on the design, analysis, and delivery of site development, utility, and infrastructure projects in a highly technical and fast-paced environment. You will prepare detailed engineering plans and documentation, coordinate permitting and multidisciplinary design efforts, and support construction activities from initial concept through commissioning. The position requires strong civil design capabilities, an understanding of related engineering disciplines, and the ability to solve complex infrastructure challenges while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare comprehensive engineering plans, calculations, specifications, technical reports, and construction documents for site development, utility, and infrastructure projects.
  • Design and analyze grading plans, drainage systems, stormwater management facilities, water distribution networks, sanitary systems, and underground utility infrastructure.
  • Develop engineering solutions that comply with relevant codes, standards, and environmental regulations while supporting long-term operational requirements.
  • Coordinate permitting efforts with local, state, and federal agencies to obtain approvals for land development and utility construction activities.
  • Provide field engineering support during construction, including inspections, quality verification, contractor coordination, and resolution of technical issues.
  • Lead multidisciplinary coordination efforts among civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, geotechnical, and surveying teams to ensure integrated and seamless project execution.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to define project objectives, develop scopes of work, establish schedules, and prepare construction cost estimates.
  • Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and proposed field modifications to verify compliance with project requirements and design intent.
  • Investigate and resolve engineering, constructability, and utility conflicts during active construction while minimizing impacts to project schedules.
  • Support project planning, procurement, and execution through all phases of development, from initial design and permitting through turnover and commissioning.
  • Monitor project progress and identify risks related to budget, schedule, quality, and constructability, and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Partner with contractors, consultants, operations personnel, and internal stakeholders to ensure infrastructure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to design requirements.
  • Conduct site visits and field assessments to gather design data, evaluate existing conditions, and support construction activities.
  • Assist in developing innovative engineering solutions for complex and challenging infrastructure needs in a high-paced and technically demanding environment.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or another engineering discipline.
  • At least 1 year of professional experience in civil engineering design, analysis, and/or drafting.
  • Experience preparing engineering plans, calculations, specifications, and construction documents for civil and site development projects.
  • Ability to design and analyze grading, drainage, stormwater management, water distribution, sanitary systems, and underground utilities.
  • Capability to coordinate permitting with local, state, and federal agencies for land development and utility projects.
  • Experience providing field engineering support during construction, including inspections, quality verification, and issue resolution.
  • Strong skills in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including structural, mechanical, electrical, geotechnical, and surveying disciplines.
  • Ability to review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and field modifications for compliance with project requirements.
  • Proficiency in monitoring project progress and identifying risks related to budget, schedule, quality, and constructability.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Proficiency in 2D modeling and 3D modeling for civil engineering applications.
  • Experience in land development, stormwater design, site development, and civil design.
  • Technical proficiency in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading, and other site development-related designs.
  • Understanding of related disciplines such as electrical, piping, geotechnical engineering, and surveying.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with project management of major construction projects, including estimating, cost control, scheduling, and contractor management.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing roles and responsibilities while maintaining high performance standards.
Work Environment

This role supports launchpad facilities and landscaping infrastructure in a highly technical and dynamic setting. You will work in and around active infrastructure and construction environments, performing both office-based design tasks and field-based activities such as site visits, inspections, and coordination with contractors. The work involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams and construction personnel, often under tight schedules and evolving project requirements. You can expect a fast-paced atmosphere that emphasizes safety, efficiency, and adherence to engineering standards while supporting the development and operation of complex infrastructure systems.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cocoa, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
