SALARY

$74,172.80 - $118,084.80 Annually

[Civil Engineer (PW) (with PE) Salary Range: $81,910.40 - $130,977.60]

This position performs engineering functions in support of the design, construction, operation and maintenance of city infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited* college or university with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering field, **and**
• Two (1) years recent responsible engineering design experience with a public or private utility and/or a technical civil engineering consulting firm preferred.
• OR
• Graduation from an accredited* college or university with a bachelors degree in civil engineering; **and**
• Twelve (12) weeks recent experience as City of Dothan Temporary Intern Civil Engineer.

Current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Alabama preferred.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid driver license and acceptable driving record. (PBA 9/10/01)

In an emergency and/or standby situation, an employee in this position must be able to report to his/her regular workstation in a maximum of 30 minutes from the time of notification. (Sec. 2-30. (2) / PBA 1/9/95) This requirement must be met within six (6) months of employment/promotion /demotion/transfer.

An employee in this position must be available to be contacted via phone within 30 days of employment/promotion/demotion/transfer, due to call out requirements.

An applicant for this position is subject to various background investigations up to and including a criminal, credit, past employment, and reference checks.

Employees are required to submit to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with the City of Dothan policy, which includes pre-employment and random tests for the duration of employment in this position. (PBA 8/13/12)
