Job summary

Topographic OM, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineer to provide technical support in the development and design of basic civil infrastructure, including paving, drainage, grading, water, and sewer improvements, under supervision.

You will assist the project team with drafting, plans, and cost opinions, interpret sketches, and prepare quantity takeoffs. Collaboration and adherence to design standards are essential for success.

JOB SUMMARY

The Civil Engineer is an entry-level engineering position responsible for providing technical support, including drafting and design, in the development/design of basic civil infrastructure, including paving, drainage, grading, water, and sanitary sewer improvements (individuals may focus on all areas or just one or two areas of specific expertise) with supervision.

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS

Employees, Managers, and Supervisors throughout the corporation.

MAJOR TASKS

• Perform assigned engineering tasks with supervision.
• Assist the project team in the development and design of basic paving, drainage, grading, water, and sanitary sewer infrastructure, which consists of plans, specifications, and cost opinions.
• Ensures conformity with the project scope and applicable design standards.
• Interpret rough sketches and plan redlines to create and edit plans/drawings.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and assist with cost opinions of design elements.
• May prepare project-related technical reports.
• Conduct property and existing utility research as needed.
• May interact with staff representatives of jurisdictional agencies to obtain approvals of drawings and specifications for permitting and construction phases of the project.
• Other duties as assigned.
