Job summary

The Lubbock County Criminal District Attorney’s Office has immediate openings for a civil division attorney. Salary is dependent on experience.

The Civil Attorney will advise elected officials and county stakeholders, handle CPS-related matters, and manage civil litigation with county-wide impact. Applicants must have a JD, Texas license in good standing, pass a drug test, and maintain a clean criminal history.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Texas.
• In good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
• Ability to pass a drug test.
• Clean criminal history.

Responsibilities

• Represent the State in CPS cases and other civil matters.
• Provide legal advice to elected officials and county stakeholders.
• Review and negotiate contracts on behalf of Lubbock County.
• Defend civil rights and tort claims and inmate litigation.
• Prepare civil pleadings, discovery, and hearings in state and federal courts.
• Coordinate with outside counsel and manage civil caseloads.
