Job summary

G3 Engineering & Surveying in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Civil Designer to turn concepts into buildable civil plans for commercial, residential, and municipal projects. You will work with engineers, surveyors, and clients using Civil 3D to produce detailed plans that meet standards and regulatory requirements.

The role emphasizes site grading, drainage, water and sewer design, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to deliver high-quality construction documents.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed civil design and construction plans, including notes, details, plan and profile sheets, and cross-sections.
  • Design water, sewer, stormwater, roadway, and drainage systems for a variety of land development projects.
  • Develop preliminary site layouts by interpreting zoning requirements and transforming conceptual designs into engineering plans.
  • Assist with grading, stormwater layouts, roadway profiles, and utility profiles while identifying potential conflicts early in the design process.
  • Create construction cost estimates, engineering drawings, and contract documents.
  • Assist the permitting team with the preparation and submission of project permitting packages.
  • Conduct fieldwork, research, documentation, and drafting of engineering data as needed.
  • Coordinate plan sets and incorporate designs and direction from lead engineers.
  • Review plans for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards and municipal requirements.
  • Prepare contract documents suitable for bidding.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, municipalities, and the public regarding design and construction matters.
  • Collaborate with Engineers and Surveyors to identify design challenges and develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
  • Support additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

We’re looking for a talented Civil Designer to join our team in Wilmington, NC and play a key role in bringing land development projects from concept to construction. As a Civil Designer, you’ll work closely with Engineers, Project Managers, Surveyors, contractors, and clients to develop high-quality civil engineering plans for commercial, residential, and municipal projects.
