Job summary

KPFF’s Orange County Civil team is seeking a Civil Designer with 1-3 years of experience to join our Newport Beach office. You will contribute to a variety of land development and site design projects while developing hands-on experience in grading, drainage, utility design, permitting, and construction documentation.

Working alongside licensed professional engineers and project managers, you will have opportunities to strengthen your Civil 3D skills, participate throughout the project

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience in civil design or land/site development.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D for design and plan production; HydroCAD or similar tools preferred.
• Knowledge of California codes, local regulations, and site development standards.
• Ability to prepare accurate drawings, exhibits, calculations, and documentation with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to civil design projects: site planning, grading, drainage, utilities, roadway, infrastructure.
• Prepare drawings and design documents using AutoCAD, Civil 3D; perform basic to intermediate calculations.
• Support site assessments, data collection, and construction observations for conformance with plans.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, consultants, and regulatory agencies for schedules, submittals, and permitting.
• Incorporate applicable codes and standards into drawings and deliverables.
• Collaborate with teams to resolve design issues and produce high-quality deliverables.
• Stay current with Civil 3D workflows and drafting standards.
