Job summary

KZF Design is seeking a Civil Designer Co-Op in Cincinnati, OH to apply classroom knowledge to real-world civil projects within our engineering team. This student role focuses on developing site/civil documents under supervision, with opportunities to work on multiple project types.

You will use AutoCAD Civil 3D (and related tools) and collaborate with engineers, drafters, and project managers to produce accurate construction documents while learning LEED-related aspects and BIM coordination.

Qualifications

• Experience producing site/civil documents in an A/E or Civil Engineering design firm (required)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Comfortable with a broad range of project types
• Familiarity with A/E industry BIM standards a plus
• Good written and oral communications skills; fluent in English

Responsibilities

• Help our clients achieve their goals
• Work with Civil Engineers and Project Managers to meet KZF goals and objectives
• Support Civil Engineering projects under the supervision of Civil Engineers and other KZF staff
• Prepare Civil design and construction documents in AutoCAD Civil 3D, per applicable standards
• Prepare documents in conformance with KZF standards and quality control requirements
• Assist with the preparation of Civil Engineering design studies, design narratives, calculations, and analysis
• Assist with the preparation of design documents across all design phases (concept to construction documents)
• Maintain technical accuracy, constructability, and code conformance for project scopes
• Attend and participate in project team meetings
• Interface with other disciplines to coordinate Civil Engineering work
• Remain current with new products and tools relevant to client needs
• Assist with researching building materials and systems for building design
• Assist with field investigations and construction site observation visits
