Job summary

HDR, Inc. in Boise, Idaho, is seeking a Civil Designer to join our Building Engineering Services Group.

You will work with project managers and a multi-discipline team to maintain design intent and model integrity, developing site civil layouts and civil 3D drawings for varied clients. The role emphasizes collaboration, 3D design workflow with Civil 3D and Revit, and meticulous model/file management to ensure HDR and client standards are met.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of site civil design experience (preferred).
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D and 3D design software.
  • Knowledge of site civil design concepts and industry standards.
  • Experience coordinating with BIM models and ACC workflow.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with PMs and a multi-discipline team to maintain design intent.
  • Apply AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu for redline markups.
  • Support creation of site civil construction documents for varied clients.
  • Develop Civil 3D site layouts, grading, storm drainage, and utilities.
  • Manage surfaces, profiles, and pipe networks in Civil 3D.
  • Prepare construction drawings meeting HDR and client standards.
  • Organize model files, references, and data shortcuts.
  • Demonstrate understanding of earthwork, surfaces, and site grading concepts.
  • Coordinate Civil 3D work with Revit and architectural/structural BIM models.
  • Utilize ACC for project collaboration and document management.

In the role of Civil Designer, we'll count on you to:
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and a multi-discipline team to maintain design intent and model integrity as projects evolve.
  • Apply AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu for redline markups.
  • Support the design and production of site civil construction documents related to Federal, Power, Architectural, Water/Wastewater, and Industrial Clients.
  • Develop site civil design improvements in Civil 3D including site layout of driveways, parking and sidewalks, grading, storm water management, drainage, utility systems, and erosion and sediment control.
  • Build and manage surface and utility profile models in Civil 3D including gravity and pressure pipe networks.
  • Develop and prepare detailed construction drawings in Civil 3D to ensure that the files and plans adhere to HDR and/or client standards.
  • Organize and manage model files, references, and data shortcuts to keep projects running smoothly.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of site civil design concepts including earthwork, surfaces, site grading, profiles and pipe networks.
  • Apply familiarity with Revit to coordinate workflows between Civil 3D and architectural/structural BIM models.
  • Apply knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) for project collaboration and document management.
  • Maintain an attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of professional experience in site civil design, using Civil 3D
  • Understanding of site civil design concepts, industry standards and practices
  • Autodesk Civil 3D certification.
  • Navisworks, MicroStation and OpenRoads experience is welcomed
Required Qualifications
  • Technical degree or a minimum of 3 years related industry experience
  • Technically qualified with 3D design software and document management infrastructure
  • Competency of Microsoft Office products and communication tools
  • Experience with 3D Coordination tools
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational traits are essential
  • Intermediate understanding of engineering or architectural concepts
