Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking an experienced CAD Operator to join our Roadway team in Irving/Las Colinas, Texas. You will develop concepts and produce preliminary engineering and final design drawings using CAD software, focusing on geometric alignments, profiles, surfaces, cross sections, drainage, and signing plans.

You will create and review drawings of substantial complexity, maintain drawing databases, and may supervise CAD staff while coordinating tasks to meet schedules and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (associates degree preferred).
• 3+ years of relevant experience in CAD drafting or related field.
• Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk or Bentley products.
• Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter.
• Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop concepts and perform preliminary engineering and final design drawings for roadway projects.
• Produce concept drawings, profiles, surfaces, cross sections, drainage, and signing/striping plans.
• Create and review technical drawings using CAD software; ensure quality and accuracy.
• Maintain drawing database and ensure documentation is up to date.
• Possibly supervise CAD staff and coordinate work with project schedules and QA/QC.
• Learn Kimley-Horn practices, procedures, and standards and apply them to deliverables.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for an experiencedCAD Operator to join our Roadway team in Irving/Las Colinas, Texas (TX)!

Responsibilities

• The candidate will develop concepts as well as work on preliminary engineering and final design for projects
  • This would include developing geometric alignments, profiles, surface modeling, cross sections, grading design, drainage, superelevation, construction details, work zone traffic control, erosion control, and signing and striping plans
• This person will develop technical drawings and plans using CAD software
• The person in this position will make and quality check drawings and plans of substantial complexity and may perform some multifaceted calculations
• Requires minimal supervision to perform day to day tasks
• Has knowledge of engineering principles and suggests design changes
• Maintains drawing database
• May supervise and train CAD staff
• Coordinates work activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control
• Develop familiarity with Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards
